The Healing Art of Reiki

Energy itself has many names, such as Chi, Ki, Qi, and Prana, but whichever name you use, it is the essential ingredient to many forms of energy healing in the world today. Reiki is a widely known form of healing which originated in Japan in the late 1800's before spreading to the US and the rest of the world. The word Reiki is derived from two Japanese words: rei, meaning universal, and ki, meaning life energy.

During a Reiki treatment, universal life energy flows through the Reiki practitioner and to the recipient for healing on all levels: spiritual, emotional, mental and physical. Reiki is a supplement to medical treatments and medicines, not a replacement for them.

People choose to receive Reiki for different reasons. It can be a great form of relaxation, stress reduction, and symptom reliever. Many use Reiki to better their general overall health and well-being while others use it for recovery from trauma and illness. I came to Reiki to heal an anxiety disorder. I ended up also healing other aspects of my life. I healed both emotionally and mentally, leading to changed behavior patterns, relationships, and life situations, resulting in a happier, more fulfilling life.

For nearly 20 years, I have trained in all levels of Reiki and have been a Reiki Master teaching since 2010. There is a natural development in the area of intuition and true empathy while treating self and others in this modality. I have treated family, friends, friends of friends, and clients in clinics and hospitals. It has been an honor and privilege to share the blessings of Reiki with others. I look forward to sharing them with you.

Reiki Treatment

Reiki can be performed anywhere. Many practitioners have portable massage tables that can be set up in the recipient's home. In a Reiki treatment, the client lies down or sits stationary and fully clothed. The practitioner places their hands, palms down, lightly or just above the client's body. Starting at the head, the hands are placed in different hand positions along the body. The client turns over and the hand positions are repeated.

Treatments can last anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes and the number of treatments performed depends on the needs of the client.

Reiki Training

Anyone can be trained to practice Reiki, even children. Reiki must be learned from an experienced Master. Reiki training has three levels, each focusing on a different aspect of the practice.

Reiki Level 1 training is designed for self healing. All the tools needed to give Reiki to self and others are learned at this level.

Reiki Level 2 involves learning to perform distance Reiki making it possible to give Reiki to a client without being in the same location.

Reiki Level 3 is mastership, where a person learns how to train students and commits to a lifelong path of mastery in the modality.

Each level is obtained in the individual’s own time frame and may take many years.

This is what a student had to say:

Treloar is very passionate about Reiki as a healing modality. Reiki is definitely a priority in her life and it shows! How she teaches Reiki, her review of the history of Reiki, her stories about being a practitioner and a teacher were thorough. Client confidentiality and high integrity was emphasized as a practitioner and a Master. Her personal love of Reiki was apparent in everything she shared. Her words, "for the highest good" of the client &/or situation is always her priority.
