What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is a consciousness-based system of healing practiced for over 5,000 years in India. The word Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words ayus, meaning life, and veda, meaning wisdom. Listening to the body and making more conscious choices is the basis of Ayurveda which can lead to vitality, happiness and fulfilled purpose in life.
A fundamental principle is that all things in life flow through the five elements: Space, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. These five elements organize themselves into three principles of life: Movement, Metabolism and Protection, known in Sanskrit as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These three doshas regulate every process within our mind and body.
Doshas
Each of us has a unique blend of the five elements creating tendencies toward one or more of the three doshas. When too much or too little of an element is experienced in a person's unique mind body constitution, discomfort and even illness can result. When a person's unique mind body constitution is understood, balance and health can be consistently obtained.

I offer a QUIZ to help you understand your personal mind body constitution. This evaluation provides both your unique Prikruti, set point for health, and your Vikruti, or current status of being. Using this information I can offer understanding and personalized practices such as diet, exercise, meditation, sensory, and body mind awareness principles to help you gain and maintain balance in your every day life.
Discover your unique Dosha
There are many doctors and practitioners of Ayurveda whose knowledge and experience range greatly. One can study this rich philosophy for 20 years while others, like myself, have a primary understanding of its vast intelligence. I hold a certification in Perfect Health as an Ayurvedic Consultant through the Chopra Center for Welling in San Diego CA. For 6 years I had the privilege of supporting the Perfect Health program at the Chopra Center by working with the physicians to deliver and teach techniques prescribed to guests in order to bring their unique mind body constitution back into balance.
